Kubota B2100 Bagger Homemade Lift Arms
repairI bought a surplus Kubota B2100 with a belly mower RC60-24B and bagger GC60-24B.
When I picked it up it came with the regular lower lift arms, but not the short lift arms that are supposed to be used with the bagger. They are listed as part 004 in the diagram below:
The bagger won’t mount properly with the stock lift arms since they need to be about half the length. You can’t just leave them off because then the lift arms won’t raise the deck properly.
Now, I looked up the price for part number 76710-55601
and it was $75. Each. Plus shipping.
No way.
Instead, I went to my local Agri Supply and bought a big lower lift arm, cut it in half and drilled the needed holes in it. I bought a cheap Harbor Freight drill press and bits for the holes and for less than the price of one lift arm (without shipping) I had a new drill press and 2 homemade lift arms for my bagger.
First, I cut the lift arm with an angle grinder - I tool about 4 inches or so out:
Then, there was already one hole for linkage in one half of the lift arm, so I simply drilled a hole in the same spot on the other half I had cut:
Use lots of oil and go slow, otherwise your bits get runied and the titanium bits I was using were pretty steep. That steel is really tough to drill.
Then, put them on the tractor an hook up the linkage. Here are a couple of pictures of one full-sized lift arm, one half-arm installed and the other half on the floor:
Note the orange upside-down L brackets that are raised/lowered with the lift arm, these need to be hit with the lift arm to raise the deck when the lift arms move. If they are not there, you cannot raise the deck:
